Early elections in the IDF amid the war: Military ballot boxes opened today in the Gaza Strip and the northern border for a full week.
Around 12 military ballot boxes were opened today (Tuesday) in several locations, including in combat zones, in order to allow serving personnel to exercise their right to vote in the local authorities.
The opening of the early voting boxes is being carried out under an operational and security envelope and will last seven days.
In view of the operational reality and the scope of those mobilized for active reserve duty and at the IDF’s request, the law was amended and the voting period in the IDF was extended, so voting will begin today, February 20, 2024, and will continue for about a week until the closure of the polling stations on election day, subject to operational needs.
Within the IDF, preparations are being made to open about 925 military ballot boxes in total, including about 150 mobile ballot boxes, in order to reach all regular and reserve service personnel, across all sectors and units.
