The terrorist organization Hezbollah in Lebanon is escalating its attacks against Israel. Since it decided to join the war initiated by Hamas on October 7th, Hezbollah has fired over 5,000 rockets, anti-tank missiles, and armed drones from Lebanon towards Israeli families, homes, and communities.
Hezbollah’s increasing aggression brings us to the brink of what could be a wider escalation – one that could have devastating consequences for Lebanon and the region.
Hezbollah endangers Lebanon’s future in order to serve as a shield for Hamas. A shield for Hamas militants who murdered the elderly, raped women, burned children, and kidnapped Jews, Muslims, and Christians during their massacre on October 7th.
When we say that we cannot allow October 7th to happen again at any of our borders – we mean it.
Due to Hezbollah’s refusal to comply with UN Security Council Resolution 1701, due to Hezbollah’s military infrastructure, the fire and shots directed towards Israel from the area south of the Litani River in southern Lebanon, and due to Lebanon’s failure to enforce 1701 on Hezbollah – Israel will take all necessary measures to protect its citizens until security is restored along the Lebanon border.
In one way or another – we will ensure the safe return of Israelis to their homes in northern Israel. This is not up for negotiation.
Iran’s terrorist proxies continue to drag the region into destruction. Israel will continue to fight against the axis of evil of Iran on all fronts, in Gaza and Lebanon, while we work towards a safer future for the Middle East.
October 7th cannot happen again – at any of Israel’s borders.
Israel has the duty to protect its citizens. We will fulfill this duty – at any cost.
