On June 21st, a claim was received regarding gunfire heard near the work teams of the WFP organization along the humanitarian route from the Kerem Shalom crossing into the Gaza Strip. Following an investigation into the matter, it was found that the IDF acted to thwart armed individuals who posed a threat to our nearby forces in the area. The armed individuals were not in proximity to the UN team when they were attacked, and we emphasize that the team was not a target of the attack and they were not harmed by it.
Regarding the claims of gunfire yesterday in the Al-Mawasi area, the IDF is investigating the incident. According to a preliminary inquiry conducted, no intentional attack by the IDF towards the Red Cross facility is recognized. The incident will be investigated promptly, and its findings will be conveyed to our international partners.
The IDF makes considerable efforts to avoid harming UN personnel and its facilities, as well as the international organizations operating to facilitate humanitarian aid in the Gaza Strip. The IDF is committed to enabling the activities and safe movement of international organizations, including the UN, in the Gaza Strip.
