“First-Time Opening of Erez Crossing for Humanitarian Aid Amidst War: A Step Forward in Gaza Relief Efforts”

IDF Spokesperson:

For the first time since the outbreak of the war: Erez Crossing opened for the entry of humanitarian aid

Following the directive of the state level, and as part of the effort to increase the quantity and routes of aid to the Gaza Strip, and for the first time since the outbreak of the war, the IDF, through the Government Actions Coordination Unit in the Territories and the Crossings Authority in the Ministry of Defense, opened Erez Crossing today (Wednesday) for the entry of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip. As part of this, after thorough security checks today, 30 trucks of humanitarian aid that arrived from Jordan were allowed in. They included food and medical equipment for the northern part of the strip.

The entry of humanitarian aid through the Erez Crossing was made possible after engineering works that were carried out in the area in recent weeks by the Engineering and Construction Department at the Ministry of Defense, the Engineering Unit of the Gaza Division, the Engineering system in the Southern Command and the forces of the Northern Brigade, by which means the renovated crossing was built, after it previously serving only as a pedestrian crossing.
As part of the works, the forces worked on building inspection and protection infrastructure in the area as well as paving roads, both in Israel and in the strip area, that enable the entry of aid to the north of the strip, while providing a response to strengthening the defense of the surrounding settlements.
