Humanitarian Aid Update – February 20, 2023
Inspection and Transfer of Trucks
98 trucks carrying humanitarian aid were inspected and transferred to the Gaza Strip yesterday (Feb. 20). 68 trucks were inspected at Nitzana and transferred via Rafah, and 30 trucks were inspected and transferred via Kerem Shalom.
Cooking Gas and Foreign Nationals
Yesterday, (Feb. 20) 4 tankers of cooking gas designated for the operation of essential infrastructure in Gaza have entered the Gaza Strip. Additionally, 54 foreign nationals exited the Gaza Strip yesterday, with 29 foreign nationals expected to exit today.
Medical Assistance
A delegation of 20 doctors and medical staff are expected to enter the Gaza Strip today, in order to bolster the medical response. Moreover, a United Arab Emirates floating hospital is anticipated to dock at the El-Arish port in the coming days, aiming to treat patients from Gaza.
Water Supply Initiative
The second waterline from the Egyptian side of Rafah to the Gazan side of Rafah was successfully connected. This project, carried out by the United Arab Emirates, is expected to supply water to residents of the southern part of Gaza.
Bakery Operations
Currently, 13 bakeries are operational in Gaza, providing over 2 million breads, rolls, and pita breads a day for the local population. Over the last 2 weeks, the number of operational bakeries increased from 10 to 12, and now to 15, following COGAT’s facilitation. The coordination of the repair of vital infrastructure has also been successfully completed.
Humanitarian Aid Movement
Today, (Feb. 21) between 10:00 and 14:00, the IDF will pause operations in the Al-Jniena neighborhood, in the town of Rafah, southern Gaza Strip, to enable the movement of humanitarian aid.
