Humanitarian Aid Efforts in Gaza: January Updates
Trucks Carrying Humanitarian Aid
A total of 208 trucks carrying humanitarian aid, including food, water, medical supplies, and shelter equipment, were inspected and transferred to the Gaza Strip yesterday (Jan. 10). Of these:
- 89 trucks were inspected at Nitzana crossing and transferred to Gaza via the Rafah Crossing.
- 119 trucks were inspected and transferred to Gaza via Kerem Shalom.
Out of the total, 144 trucks (70%) carried food, while the remaining trucks carried water, medical supplies, and shelter equipment.
Fuel and Gas Supplies Enter Gaza
On the previous day (Jan. 9), 4 tankers of cooking gas and 2 tankers of fuel designated for the operation of essential infrastructure in Gaza entered the region. Additionally, over 250,000 vials of vaccinations, with over 1 million doses, are expected to enter the Gaza Strip today.
New Field Hospital Opens in Southern Gaza
Following coordination and facilitation efforts, a new field hospital in southern Gaza, operated by the International Medical Corps (IMC), has begun operating and accepting patients. This field hospital has:
- A capacity of 50 beds
- A personnel of 200
It provides surgical care for trauma, physical rehabilitation, emergency obstetric and newborn care, advanced mental health services, and more. Additional field hospitals are in the planning stage and are expected to be operational in the coming days.
Additional Support for Field Hospitals
Further equipment and personnel for the field hospitals operating in the Gaza Strip have entered the area. Currently, 12 bakeries are producing over 2 million pita breads a day in central and southern Gaza.
IDF Humanitarian Pause
Today (Jan. 11), between 10:00 and 14:00, the IDF will pause operations in the Yafa neighborhood in Deir Al Balach, central Gaza, to facilitate the movement of humanitarian aid.
