Humanitarian Aid Update: January 1-2, 2024

Trucks Delivering Aid to Gaza

A total of 163 trucks carrying humanitarian aid, including food, water, medical supplies, and shelter equipment, were inspected and transferred to the Gaza Strip yesterday (Jan. 1). Of these, 87 trucks were inspected at Nitzana crossing and transferred to the Gaza Strip via the Rafah Crossing, while 76 trucks were inspected and transferred to Gaza via Kerem Shalom.

Gas and Field Hospitals

Yesterday (Jan. 1), 4 tankers of cooking gas designated for the operation of essential infrastructure in Gaza entered the Gaza Strip. Additionally, a field hospital in Rafah operated by the Red Crescent has begun treating patients. This hospital has a capacity of 50 beds and a personnel of 120, which includes 6 intensive care units and 3 operating rooms. More field hospitals are in the process of being established and are expected to be operational in the coming days.

Equipment and Water Services

Additional equipment and personnel for field hospitals have entered the Gaza Strip. Coordination for the repair of the Bani Suhila waterline has been completed. Moreover, equipment for 4 WFP warehouses has also entered the Gaza Strip, which is set to enhance the logistic capacity of organizations receiving humanitarian aid in the region.

Humanitarian Aid Operations

Today (Jan. 2), between 10:00 and 14:00, the IDF will pause operations in the Al-Baracha neighborhood in Dier Al Balah, central Gaza, to enable the movement of humanitarian aid. Furthermore, on December 27, the second water pipeline from mobile desalination facilities situated on the Egyptian side of Rafah was successfully established.
