Uriel was a fighter in the YASSAM (Special Patrol Unit) and an instructor in LOTAR (Counter-Terrorism Unit). His friends and family describe him as beloved by all, humble, modest, a devoted family man, and a person of faith.
On the morning of October 7, amidst the wailing sirens, Uriel received a phone call instructing him
to report to his station. While en route, he learned that a group of his friends was in the town of Ofakim, battling Hamas terrorists in the streets. Without delay, Uriel diverted to Ofakim, armed only with his personal handgun. Upon arrival, he engaged the terrorists, helping to neutralize them.
Later, a fellow unit member arrived with additional weapons and gear. It was then that Uriel received word that another team from his unit had encountered terrorists at Kibbutz Re’im. Without hesitation, he joined the officers and sped toward Re’im. For hours, Uriel fought bravely alongside his comrades until he was fatally wounded. Even in his final moments, he continued to fight. With his last breath, he asked his friend to tell his wife, children, and family that he loved them and would watch over them from heaven.
