Sivan Weil, a 20-year-old from Ra’anana, Israel, was a dedicated soldier in the elite Egoz Unit of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). Sivan tragically lost his life following injuries sustained from an RPG attack during a combat operation in Khan Yunis, located in the southern part of the Gaza Strip.

Sivan was remembered by friends, family, and military comrades as not only a brave soldier but also a kind-hearted and joyful individual, who cherished his relationships and was deeply committed to his service. He was known for his bravery, not shying away from expressing his thoughts and feelings openly. His close friend shared memories of their childhood and their decision to immigrate to Israel from France, highlighting a strong bond shaped by family trips, holiday meals, and a shared love of their homeland.

On the battlefield, Sivan was involved in a critical incident where an RPG was fired at the building where his unit was stationed. The attack resulted in multiple casualties including Sivan and another commander from his unit, severely impacting the entire team.

Sivan’s family decided to donate his organs, which saved the lives of several people, ensuring his legacy of helping others continues even after his death. His heart and lungs were transplanted into patients at Sheba Medical Center, his liver and one kidney were transplanted at Beilinson Hospital, and his other kidney was given to a patient at Hadassah Medical Center.

His community in Ra’anana, and indeed all who knew him, deeply mourn his loss, remembering him as a beacon of light and strength. The mayor of Ra’anana and various officials spoke highly of Sivan during his funeral, expressing profound sadness and loss felt by the entire city. His sacrifice and service were honored as embodying the values of courage, generosity, and commitment to his country.
