Yiftach was a member of Kibbutz Na’an and, together with his wife, Sivan, was a founding member of the town of Be’er Milka, where he lived and served as the chairman of the town’s committee for many years. There, he also established and managed the town’s award-winning dairy farm.
During his military service, Yiftach served in the special forces unit Sayeret Matkal and continued his service in the reserves for nearly thirty years. In 2023, he completed his reserve duty and decided to join the special operations units LOTAR Eilat and LOTAR Nitzana.

On October 7, At around 7:30 AM, Yiftach and his team, Team Peled (of LOTAR Nitzana), were called to respond to an urgent situation in the southern border communities. On the way, they encountered a group of about 50 Hamas terrorists and engaged in battle until Yiftach’s final moments. He fought bravely until his last breath, ultimately falling in combat near the town of Yated.

Thanks to Yiftach, his team members, and the soldiers who fought alongside them, that group of terrorists, who had planned to take control of the towns in the southern border area, was eliminated.
