Captain (res.) Harel Sharvit, from Kochav Ya’akov, a combat officer in the 7008 battalion, the ‘HA-ESH’ formation (551), fell in battle in the north of the Gaza Strip.
“What have I lost, a handsome boy,” said Harel’s mother, Noga, and said that she was afraid to look at the beautiful photos he sent her. The mother noted that only recently Harel attended the funeral of his fallen friend, and told her about the strong impression the funeral left on him: “And here, now you are lying next to him. How much strength you had, and how much you wanted to do, and you did, you did fully, but you had plans.” His father Yitzchak said: “We will come out even stronger, and we will be even more attached to the holy and beloved land, and we will be more united in the family, and we will believe more.”
His brother David also said: “My dear brother, my love, the love of my heart, I love you very much, there are no words. Because of the many thoughts that go around in my head, that no one should have to write such things, I was unable to write about you. You are our hero, you know how close we were , we were in daily contact, you had an innocent and simple and deep faith.”
