The Humanitarian Aid Efforts in Gaza – January 17
On January 17, a total of 208 humanitarian aid trucks were inspected and transferred to the Gaza Strip.
Truck Transfer Details
91 trucks were inspected at the Nitzana crossing and subsequently transferred to the Gaza Strip via the Rafah crossing. Additionally, 117 trucks were inspected and transferred through Kerem Shalom. Notably, 114 of the trucks that made their way to the Gaza Strip were loaded with food supplies.
Fuel and Gas Supply
On the same day, 4 tankers of cooking gas and 2 tankers of fuel entered the Gaza Strip. These supplies are designated for the operation of essential infrastructure in the region.
Coordination with WFP
Over the past few days, Israel successfully coordinated and facilitated the transfer of 139 trucks carrying food donated by the World Food Programme (WFP). These trucks, inspected at Kerem Shalom, journeyed from Jordan to Gaza as part of a newly established humanitarian aid delivery channel aimed at increasing the volume of aid being transferred to the area.
Foreign Nationals Exiting Gaza
On January 17, 18 foreign nationals were able to exit the Gaza Strip, with an additional 30 foreign nationals coordinated for exit today.
Repair of Vital Infrastructure
Coordination for the repair of vital infrastructure has been successfully completed, with additional field hospitals expected to become operational in the coming days. To support this, more equipment and personnel have entered the Gaza Strip. So far, a total of 341 staff members have arrived to enhance the medical response efforts in the region.
Bakeries and Food Production
Currently, 11 bakeries are operational in central and southern Gaza, producing over 2 million pita breads daily.
IDF Operations and Humanitarian Aid Movement
On January 17, between 10:00 and 14:00, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) will pause operations in the Tal Al-Sultan neighborhood in Rafah, southern Gaza, to facilitate the movement of humanitarian aid.
Water Supply to Residents
In terms of infrastructure, Israel has opened two water pipes from Israel—Birkat Sa’id and Bani Suheila—which are providing water to hundreds of thousands of residents in the southern Gaza Strip. These lines supply an impressive 28.5 million liters of water per day.
