Humanitarian Efforts in Gaza – January 29-30, 2023
Truck Inspections and Transfers
225 trucks were inspected and transferred to the Gaza Strip, yesterday (Jan. 29). 97 trucks were inspected at Nitzana crossing and transferred to Gaza via the Rafah crossing, while 128 trucks were inspected and transferred via Kerem Shalom. Notably, 158 trucks carried food.
Essential Supplies and Humanitarian Corridors
On the same day (Jan. 29), 4 tankers of cooking gas, designated for the operation of essential infrastructure in Gaza, entered the Gaza Strip. Additionally, tens of thousands of Gazans moved west of Khan Yunis in the corridor established for humanitarian purposes by the IDF.
Foreign Nationals and Medical Teams
147 foreign nationals are coordinated for exit today. Moreover, 2 medical teams entered the Gaza Strip to bolster the medical response in the area.
Infrastructure Repairs and Humanitarian Aid Warehouses
The coordination for the repair of vital infrastructure in central Gaza was successfully completed (Jan. 29). Furthermore, 4 warehouses, designated to enhance the logistic capacity of international organizations receiving humanitarian aid within the Gaza Strip, were established.
Bakeries and Food Production
12 bakeries, providing 2 million pita breads a day, are operational with additional ones in the planning process.
Humanitarian Aid Movement Pause
Today (Jan. 30), between 10:00 and 14:00, the IDF will pause operations in the Rafah Camp in southern Gaza to enable the movement of humanitarian aid.
Field Hospitals and Medical Care
The Jordanian hospital, with a capacity of 41 beds and a personnel of 154, has treated over 26,598 patients. The United Arab Emirates field hospital, with a capacity of 200 beds and staffed by 100, has treated over 2,165 patients. The Red Crescent hospital operates as an emergency room extension to the Al-Amal hospital, boasting a capacity of 64 beds and personnel of 120.
Additionally, the IMC field hospital has a capacity of 50 beds and a personnel of 200, providing surgical care for trauma, physical rehabilitation, emergency obstetric and newborn care, advanced mental health services, and more. This facility treats an average of 400 patients a day.
