Closure of Crossings on Saturdays

In line with the agreement reached with the US, Egypt and the UN, Kerem Shalom and Nitzana crossings will be closed on Saturdays. This is to facilitate the UN’s distribution of goods on the Gazan side of Kerem Shalom and the reception on the Egyptian side of Rafah.

Aid Truck Arrivals

As of May 18, 97 aid trucks entered Gaza via various routes:

  • Jordanian Route: 84 trucks were coordinated.
  • JLOTS (Joint Logistics Over the Shore): On Friday, May 17, after weeks of preparations, the first 300 pallets of humanitarian aid (in 13 trucks) were transferred into Gaza through the temporary floating pier.

Coordination Requests

On May 18, out of 33 general coordination requests, 27 (82%) were approved. Additionally:

  • Out of 9 coordination requests to northern Gaza, 6 were approved.
  • Out of 8 UN coordination requests, all 8 (100%) were approved.

Since January 1, 2024, 87% of all coordination requests have been approved.

Field Hospitals and Bakeries

There are currently 8 operational field hospitals as of May 18. Additionally, 26 bakeries are operational in Gaza, providing close to 5 million breads, rolls, and pita breads daily. So far, 3,272 injured and sick individuals and 725 escorts have been evacuated from the strip.

Water Pipeline Update

The northern water pipeline from Israel and the Bani Suheila line are now fully operational.

Humanitarian Aid Movement

Today, May 19, between 10:00 and 14:00, the IDF will pause operations in the El Amal neighborhood in Khan Yunis to enable the movement of humanitarian aid.
