Gai Ben-Harush, 23, from Pardes Hanna-Karkur, served as a commander in an assault platoon in the Oketz Unit, part of the Marom Brigade. The Oketz Unit, designated as Unit 7142, is the IDF’s independent special forces unit specializing in canine operations.
As with all fighters and commanders in Oketz, Gai led the force, accompanied by his attack dog, with the mission of protecting and safeguarding his unit.
He fell in battle during an encounter with Hezbollah terrorists in a village in the eastern sector of southern Lebanon. His bravery and dedication to his unit and mission will be remembered and honored.
