Ilay Bar Sadeh, born on April 3, 2004, in Ramat Gan, was a young man whose quiet strength and generosity left a lasting impact on those around him. As a child, Ilay was known for his determination and kindness, often seen chasing after soccer balls with relentless enthusiasm.
Ilay joined the Israel Defense Forces on December 12, 2022, and was assigned to the Golani Brigade, where his bravery and dedication quickly shone through. His time in the army was marked by a deep commitment to his role and a readiness to help others.
Tragically, on October 7, 2023, Ilay fell in combat at the age of 19 and a half. His passing was a profound loss to his family, friends, and community. Ilay was posthumously promoted to Sergeant, a testament to his valor and service.
Mayor Carmel Shama-Hacohen expressed the community’s grief, saying, “Ilay, a graduate of Blich High School, was killed in courageous combat defending the homeland he loved so dearly.” Ilay’s friends and family remember him as a beacon of kindness and strength, whose spirit continues to inspire.
