On the afternoon of October 7th, when it became clear that the nation was facing an unprecedented terror attack, Yakir immediately called his battalion commander. Without hesitation, he demanded to know where he was needed and when to be there.
Yakir quickly joined his reservist unit, becoming one of the first to enter Gaza and confront Hamas. Those who knew him describe him as a compassionate and selfless individual, always putting the needs of his friends and family first and offering help to anyone in need.
He made the ultimate sacrifice, falling in battle while courageously fighting Hamas terrorists in northern Gaza.
