Following the events of October Seventh, the “Sons of the Place” project was established under the auspices of the Home Front Command. As part of it, 8 local residents were conscripted, armed, and performed various defense tasks in the civilian space in coordination with the local authorities and subject to the Israel Police.
In accordance with the operational situation assessment and following discussions with authorities on the subject, it was decided that in the city of Jerusalem, the settlements of the Jerusalem Envelope and settlements near the seam line, the project will continue to operate as is until further notice.
Following a joint dialogue with the heads of the authorities in other settlements, it was decided that on 29.02, the project would come to an end and the reservists would be released accordingly.
We emphasize that there is no change in the state of alertness in settlements near the fence and these days they are being reinforced with additional weapons and equipment and are practicing in trainings. The forces are prepared to redeploy as necessary and subject to the situation assessment.
The Home Front Command continues to operate in the field in close cooperation with the authorities and emergency bodies, and conducts ongoing situation assessments to ensure the security of the residents.
