Roey, who grew up and lived in Moshav Tzur Moshe, was a mechanical engineering student at Ben-Gurion University. During his military service, he joined the elite Yahalom unit (Special Operations Engineering Unit) and later attended the officer’s course.
Roey fell in battle in northern Gaza during a life-saving operation to destroy a Hamas weapons storage facility. His family requested that a memorial be built in his honor in Tzur Moshe, where he was raised. He was a charismatic individual who loved conversation. To capture his spirit, the memorial’s designer created a wooden seating circle, shaded by a pergola and surrounded by planters filled with flowers and herbs, designed to attract people and foster connections. The memorial, now known as Biber’s Circle, is located in the heart of a grove overlooking the Moshav’s orchards.
