Humanitarian Aid Efforts in Gaza: Updates as of May 19-20, 2023

Aid Truck Transfers to Gaza

422 aid trucks were inspected and transferred to the Gaza Strip yesterday, May 19. These trucks entered from various aid routes we developed: Ashdod port, Erez crossing, Judea and Samaria, and JLOTS (maritime route).

JLOTS (Joint Logistics Over the Shore)

On May 19, 17 trucks of aid were transferred into Gaza through the temporary floating pier.

Airdrops in Gaza

45 pallets containing tens of thousands of packages of aid were airdropped into Gaza yesterday (May 19).

Coordination Efforts

On May 19, out of 44 general coordination requests, 33 were approved. For northern Gaza, out of 13 coordination requests, 9 were approved. Additionally, out of 11 UN coordination requests, 10 (91%) were approved. Since January 1, 2024, 87% of all coordination requests have been approved.

Operational Field Hospitals and Bakeries

There are currently 8 operational field hospitals (as of May 19). Moreover, 26 bakeries are currently operational in Gaza, providing close to 5 million breads, rolls, and pita breads daily.

Fuel Arrivals to Gaza

Two tankers of fuel designated for the operation of essential infrastructure in Gaza entered yesterday (May 19). So far, 3,272 injured and sick individuals and 725 escorts have been evacuated from the strip. The northern water pipeline from Israel and the Bani Suheila line are now fully operational.

Tent Arrivals for Temporary Evacuees

As part of plans for the civilian population temporarily evacuating from the Rafah area to the humanitarian areas, thousands of tents purchased by Israel and intended for the Humanitarian Area in Al-Mawasi were brought in through the Kerem Shalom Crossing last Sunday.

Upcoming Humanitarian Aid Movement

Today, May 20, between 10:00 and 14:00, the IDF will pause operations in the Gorat Ellot neighborhood in Khan Yunis to enable the movement of humanitarian aid.
