Evyatar Ohayon

Evyatar Ohayon was a brave and dedicated soldier who embodied compassion and courage. Born on August 7, 2001, in Jerusalem, Evyatar was the son of Yasmine and Jacob and grew up with six siblings: Or-El, Miriam, Ruth, Israel, Noam, and Tehila.

He enlisted in the Israel Defense Forces on March 21, 2021, and served as an ambulance driver in the Golani Brigade’s 51st Battalion. Although initially trained in logistics, Evyatar remained a fighter at heart, taking every opportunity to protect his fellow soldiers and community members. On October 7, 2023, he fought terrorists who breached the base at Kissufim and gave his life defending his comrades, saving many others.

Evyatar was known for his radiant smile, warmth, and unwavering dedication to those around him. His friends described him as always putting others’ needs before his own. He loved to paint, explore Israel, and find joy in nature’s springs and landscapes. His commitment to his faith was unwavering, and he fought for higher standards of kashrut at his yeshiva. He set goals for himself, achieving each one with perseverance and determination.

Evyatar had a remarkable sensitivity to others, recognizing their struggles and finding ways to help. His artwork continues to adorn the walls of his yeshiva, a testament to his artistic spirit and desire to bring joy and beauty to the world.

He was due to be released from the army after Sukkot, but tragically lost his life in the battle on the very day before his planned release. He was 22 when he fell, but his legacy lives on through those who were fortunate enough to know him. His memory will continue to inspire, and his sacrifice will not be forgotten.
