Oriel grew up and was educated in Kfar Saba, graduating from the Noam Seminary.
He was a volunteer at Israel’s national emergency medical service, Magen David Adom. He was a devoted husband and father of two.
In 2021, Oriel received the Chief of Staff’s Excellence Award. Recently, he began studying emergency medicine at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, aspiring to become a paramedic.
On the morning of October 7, Oriel, along with three other military officers from his town of Shlomit, rushed to the Paratroopers Basic Training Base to retrieve their gear and join the fight against the invading Hamas terrorists. While en route near Kibbutz Be’eri, they were ambushed by terrorists who opened fire from both sides of the road. Despite being critically wounded in the neck during the battle, Oriel managed to call his town’s safety officer, share his location, and inform him that he had bandaged himself and was continuing on foot. His body was later found by the side of the road.
