Regev Amar grew up and was educated in Kibbutz Sde Nehemia in the Upper Galilee. After finishing high school, he spent a year of service with the Society for the Protection of Nature at the Ein Gedi Field School. He played water polo for many years on various teams and was a counselor in the Hashomer Hatzair youth movement. He was known for his love of traveling throughout the country, especially in the Negev Mountains and the Judean Desert.

Regev Amar enlisted in Shayetet 13, then continued to Duvdevan, and later to the Paratroopers’ 101st Brigade. On October 7th, he was in a squad commanders’ course when they were called up to defend southern Israel near the Gaza border against invading Hamas terrorists. He was part of the first force to reach Kibbutz Kissufim, where his squad managed to repel the terrorists. During the battle to defend the kibbutz, he was wounded and urged his friends not to rescue him to avoid endangering their lives. He continued to return fire until he succumbed to his wounds. He was 20 years old.
